What is system TEMS?

TEMS – Transport Environment Monitoring System is a highly advanced platform protocol for monitoring environmentally sensitive and valuable shipments. In addition to current location TEMS processes physical data of the surrounding environment including Temperature, Humidity, Air pressure, Light intensity, 3D orientation, and Free falls / Impacts. Measured values are transmitted in real-time to servers where users can view them in interactive graphs, tables, and reports. Sophisticated alerts enable shippers to react immediately to anomalies of predefined parameter settings. When each transport is finished, the system compiles a summary report for transport period of time.

GPS location tracking

TEMS is a module of MotoMon electronic logbook. MotoMon’s logbook is our oldest and the most successful project and has been working since 2005. During this time, it has become one of the most sophisticated and sought-after system for fleet management and logbook processing on the Global market.

The basic principle of MotoMon’s logbook is to collect GPS coordinates from GPS units placed in vehicles. GPS units are placed into transports / shipments for tracking purposes. This can be done in two ways: either with GPS tracker connected to EMX probe or with SmartBox which already includes GPS unit. Using the electronic logbook brings additional advantages such as:

  • Real-time position overview of vehicles and or transported goods
  • Logbook automatically recording generated trip data
  • Assisting in quick recovery of any stolen vehicles or cargo
  • Mobile application for iOS, Android, and Windows phone
  • Advanced alert system for most any unwanted events

Environment monitoring

EMX Probe function is to measure the surrounding environment. Probe can be connected to a GPS tracker or it can work as a part of the SmartBox. Probe scans and collects data of temperature, humidity, air pressure, light intensity, impacts, 3D orientation and G-forces. Measured values are sent in real-time to servers where users can view in form of interactive graphs, tables, and reports. Alerts for these variables can be set and system will send an alert if and when the environment goes outside pre-set ranges.

Notifications and reports

There are many events during a transportation which can put a shipment in danger.  The Probe which constantly monitors transport environment sends data to servers. The System will send an alert when values of set variable go over preset limits. Alert can be sent for example when a shipment is opened without authorization, temperature exceeds limits during transportation or when a shipment is handled badly. System will send alert when a shipment enters predefined area or when it leaves exact planned route. Alerts can be sent via e-mail, to Central Monitoring stations, audible alert on PC monitor, or as SMS.

Use of TEMS

TEMS Hardware

A key component of TEMS is our proprietary hardware. For monitoring and recording physical conditions during transports we have developed a special probe which collects data from surrounding environment and converts them to digital form. The Probe which is connected to a GPS tracker has sufficient battery power when shipments are traveling relatively short distances. For longer duration shipments the SmartBox is used which packs all together the probe, GPS tracker and an additional battery.  All this in a strong customized compact magnetic waterproof box.

EMX probe

We developed the unique EMX probe specifically with integration into TEMS in mind. Probe scans environmental temperature, humidity, air pressure, light intensity, impacts, 3D orientation and G-forces. Measured data is saved into probes internal cyclic buffer and periodically sent over cellular network connected GPS tracker to our servers for further processing.

SmartBox

The SmartBox includes GPS tracker, EMX probe sensors and large extended battery – all in a strong compact magnetic waterproof box. This solution is great for monitoring both short and long duration transports. SmartBox makes it possible to have these features in one solution which is quickly and easily attached to most any shipment.
